Statement Of Faith
-
The Bible (the 66 books of the Old and New
Testaments) is God's written Word to man, free of error in its original
autographs, wholly reliable in history and doctrine. Its divine
inspiration has rendered the Bible incapable of teaching deception
(infallible), incapable of being proven false or mistaken (inerrant) and
incapable of being surpassed (superior). Its inspiration extends
to all its parts alike (plenary), includes the actual language forms
(verbal), and is the product of two agents, divine and human
(confluent). Psalm 12:6; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter
1:20-21
-
We believe in one God, eternally existing in
three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. John 1:1-14; 2
Corinthians 13:14.
-
We believe that
Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit, was born of the virgin
Mary, lived a sinless life, is true God and true man, and is the only
Mediator between God and man. Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:18-25; 1
Timothy 2:5.
-
We believe that man was created in the image of
God; that he sinned and therefore incurred the physical and spiritual
death which is separation from God. Genesis 1:27, 2:17; Romans
6:23.
-
We believe in the death of Jesus Christ as a substitutionary sacrifice for our sins, and that all who
believe in Him as Savior and Lord are justified on the grounds of His
shed blood. 1 Peter 1:18-19, 2:24; Acts 16:31.
-
We believe that all who receive the Lord Jesus
Christ through faith are born again of the Holy Spirit and thereby
become children of God. At the moment a person is born again, he
is baptized by the Holy Spirit into the body of Christ (the Church),
indwelt by the Holy Spirit, and eternally sealed by the Holy
Spirit. John 3:3-7; Romans 8:10-11; 1 Corinthians 12:13-30;
Ephesians 1:13-14, 2:8-9.
-
We believe the Holy Spirit also ministers in
filling the Christian for the purpose of fruitful service. This
filling is conditioned upon confession of all known sins and yielding
completely to God. Evidences of this filling are the fruit of the
Spirit and Christian service that exalts the Lord Jesus Christ. We
believe that, although God heals in response to prayer, the gifts of
tongues and miracles were temporary gifts and are not the norm for
today. We believe in church discipline. Galatians 5:22-23;
Ephesians 5:18; 1 Corinthians 13:8-12; Matthew 18:15-20.
-
We believe in the resurrection of the crucified
body of our Lord, in His ascension into heaven, and in His present life
there as our High Priest and Advocate. Psalm 16:10; Matthew 28;
Acts 1:9, 2:22-36; Hebrews 4:14; John 2:1.
-
We believe in the personal and bodily return of
our Lord Jesus Christ to the earth. The same Jesus who left this
earth will also return in the same body in the clouds of the air to
catch up born-again Christians to meet Him. Acts 1:11; 1
Thessalonians 4:16-17.
-
We believe there are two church
ordinances: Baptism and the Lord's Supper. Matthew 28:19-20,
26:26-29; Acts 2:41-42; 1 Corinthians 11:20-34.
-
We believe in the bodily resurrection of the
saved and the lost. The saved shall appear in heaven at the
judgment seat of Christ to receive rewards and to dwell with Him
forever. The lost shall be judged at the Great White Throne and be
cast into hell for eternity. John 5:28-29; 1 Corinthians 3:11-15;
15:1-58; Revelation 20:11-15.
